Dear Friends:

Welcome to the website for the Autism Society of America, Lehigh Valley chapter!  Through this site, we will provide the most up-to-date information about our organization’s events and happenings.   Please check it often and use it to R.S.V.P. when asked.  You can also call our information line at 610-778-9212 and leave a message.

As we all know, autism is a spectrum disorder that affects each individual differently.  With that in mind, we have decided to restructure the Autism Society of America, Lehigh Valley Chapter to better serve the individuals, families, professionals, and others who interact with people with autism.

We have decided to have 3 separate yet cooperating subgroups within our organization.  The ASA-LV will help support each group financially and will help coordinate their outreach efforts.  We hope that the members of all three groups will come together at certain events, such as the Legislators’ Meeting in October and the Spring Conference.  Everyone is encouraged to apply for the Child Enrichment Grants that will be offered again this year. We expect that the groups will split up for certain social events.  This will help social activities be more age-appropriate and give parents a chance to network with other parents facing similar concerns.

Aspergers

We would like to officially welcome members of the Aspergers Society (SEAS) under the “umbrella” of the Autism Society, Lehigh Valley.  Although we recognize that Aspergers is a unique diagnosis and can be considered separate from autism, the leaders of both organizations felt we had enough in common that it would make sense to join forces to better coordinate our efforts and activities.

Additional volunteers are always needed!  Please contact any board member through the website or call the Hotline to participate.

Thank you for your interest in our organization. We look forward to hearing from you.

Sheri Miltenberger
